Grand Paris Express Line 15 West South

The Société des Grands Projets has awarded the first design-build contract for the Grand Paris Express to the IntenCités15 consortium, led by VINCI Construction Grands Projets. It concerns the southern section of line 15 West, which will connect Pont de Sèvres station to La Défense.

Grand Paris Express

The largest infrastructure and urban development project currently underway in Europe, the Grand Paris Express will double the length of the metro network with 200 km of new lines, including the creation of 4 new lines around Paris (lines 15, 16, 17 and 18), 90% of which will run underground, the extension of 2 lines (lines 11 and 14), 68 new stations and the development of new districts around these future urban-transport hubs. 3 million passengers will use these new lines every day.

The deployment and funding for this major urban-development project is being steered by the Société des grands projets (SGP), a public establishment created by the French government.

Since 2017, the Major Projects Division has leveraged its expertise to contribute to the construction of 14 stations, 38.6 km of tunnels, and 6.7 km of viaducts on lines 18, 15 South, 15 West South, and 14 South.

Ontario Line South

The Ontario Line will be a 15.6-kilometre subway line that will make it faster and easier to travel within Toronto and beyond. The line will bring 15 new stations to the city and will run from Exhibition Place, through the heart of downtown, all the way up to the Eglinton Crosstown LRT (Line 5) in Flemingdon Park. Construction is now underway.  VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Ferrovial Construction have joined together to form the Ontario Transit Group to deliver the Ontario Line Southern Civils, Stations and Tunnel contract.

Ligne Ferroviaire Lyon-Turin, Lot 2

The Fréjus railway tunnel, opened in 1871, rises to an altitude of 1,300 metres and has a gradient of up to 3%. This means that the trains running through it have to be equipped with three locomotives, resulting in a 40% increase in energy costs.

The new tunnel, currently under construction, will transform the existing mountain line into a line with a lowland profile, making rail transport more competitive, with energy savings and higher speeds.

Line 15 south – Fort d’Issy-Vanves-Clamart to Villejuif Louis Aragon (Grand Paris Express)

The contract concerns the civil engineering aspects for a section of the future line 15 south of the Grand Paris Express connecting Fort d’Issy-Vanves-Clamart to Villejuif Louis Aragon and includes the creation of 8 km of tunnels as well as the construction of 8 shafts and 5 new stations.
Dug using traditional tunnelling techniques, this project required significant human and logistical resources due to the complexity of the construction site’s terrain. In February 2017, the construction project for this T3C section was awarded to the CAP group headed by VINCI Construction.

Overhead section of line 18 of the Grand Paris Express, Massy-Palaiseau / Saint-Aubin

Société des grands projets has awarded the contract to build the 7.4 km overhead section of line 18 of the Grand Paris Express, which will link Massy-Palaiseau to the future CEA Saint-Aubin station, to the consortium led by VINCI Construction Grands Projets. It is scheduled to come into service by 2026.

Lyon-Turin Rail Line, Avrieux ventilation shafts

For the completion of the Lyon-Turin line, the work package awarded by the public client Tunnel Euralpin Lyon Turin (TELT) covers preparatory work on the future safety site at Modane, which is located at the centre of the base tunnel linking the international railway stations of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne (France) and Susa (Italy) over a distance of 57 km.

Package 5A includes the construction of 4 ventilation shafts, each 500 metres long, at the foot of which 7 large caverns and 3 kms of galleries will be built, in the municipality of Avrieux; it represents a key stage in the project.

Starting at the end of 2020 using an innovative technique known as raise-boring, the project took3 years and involved up to 450 people.

Ligne 18, Orly / Massy-Palaiseau, Grand Paris Express

The Société des grands projets has allocated the construction contract for the first section of line 18 of the Grand Paris Express, which will connect Orly airport to Palaiseau, to a consortium of companies controlled by VINCI Construction Grands Projets. The contract relates to the digging of 11.8 km of tunnels, the construction of three stations, 13 ancillary structures along with 850 linear metres of open and covered trenches. This first section will come into service in 2026 and 2027.

Renovation and extension of Nikola Tesla airport

The contract relates to the renovation and extension of the airport infrastructure, including the construction in two phases of a 40,000 m2 extension to the existing passenger terminal and the renovation of 15,000 m2 (including the addition of 11 new boarding bridges). The works also include: the construction of an additional runway to enable the existing runway to be closed for complete renovation, as well as the construction of new taxiways, aircraft parking areas, a number of electrical substations, car parks and a section of access road.
